Not pond pictures, but these people do have a pond that is sort of like a child of Mr. Bill's Pond. All of the fish and reeds came from Mr. Bill's. These are photos of who I spend my time with for much of the day. I've never paid attention to cats before but these are relentless. The orange kitten (also has intense orange eyes) lives in the barn and has followed me around since the first day I fed all of the animals. The white kitten lives at the house and is curled up asleep with the dog when I get there in the mornings. I have been friends with her for several weeks but hadn't been to the barns before and didn't know the other one existed. Now when I work near the house they follow me, attack me, drink my water, and play on whatever machines I am using. I am completely amazed by them.
After two weeks the horses are no longer as shy. I have never been around horses before, or have been but didn't pay attention to them, so I'm not quite sure how something like this normally progresses. I really don't even know that I would want to ride one (it seems kind of weird), but I don't mind working with them. They are kind of like children (if you ignore the fact that the smallest one could kick me into next week), especially the group of young stallions in the large pen. I was watching them today and they reminded me of a junior high school boy's gym class. They have obvious social interplay, and when they are bored, most of it amounts to who is in charge. There are even almost bullies bothering those who get bullied, but the larger group seems to escape both of those issues. And they all have names, two names - registered names, and names that the lady has given them through the years. The only bad part about working with them to get them ready to sell is what if bad people buy them. I would hate to get them to trust me and then they are sold to some nut with a 2x4. Many people don't even treat their spouses or children well. That type can't really be trusted with any animal that they are not going to eat fairly quickly.
