Clean-up

Last weekend I started cleaning the debris from the inside of the pond berm, and finished it this weekend. Although I didn't get any photos of the animals (insects and frogs), there are large numbers of both. I also moved all of the herbs from around my house since the water they require is causing the outer walls of the house to crack. They will be much easier to water near the pond and will also look better. I moved the rest of the ornamental plants to the South part of my yard where they can also be watered from the pond.

Wind Gym

I have walked my dog every day for several years, and generally use this path that the Town bladed in a pasture (I'm not sure for what). For the first years, I hated walking because it made me tired, and I hated doing it in this area because of the constant wind. As time has gone by, I have realized that I walk as much for myself as I do for the dog, and that the wind resistence is an excellent exercise. I now see the path as a WindGym.

End of August

It was a fairly typical hot August week-end. The threat of rain is always present, but rarely follows through (we did get almost 1" last week so I shouldn't be cynical). I spent most of both days trimming the inner edge of the berm. The camera that I use doesn't really show details, but if it did, the results would be impressive. I am determined to have at least one day this year when all of the grass is mowed, the debris is removed, and the edges are trimmed. If not, there is still next year.
