Normal Weather

It was 90 yesterday, and 40 this morning. I love this place. Haven't really been doing much for a couple of weeks, but have redone the waterfall and planted several things.

Saturday, and Still April I Believe

These are from yesterday evening. Interesting conversation with Camron about the invasion of 10' bool ants today. They seem to be the natural enemies of rattle snakes and most other living creatures. More about that later maybe.

Easter Sunday

Last night Camron told Guy, "Happy Easter!", and when Guy asked him if he knew what Easter was about he said, "Sure, they hide things and I find them." When asked if he knew why they hid things he replied, "I don't have a clue." This part becomes kind of embarrassing (again) but Guy asked if he knew who Jesus was and he said, "I don't think I've ever heard of him." Anywas, ignoring the myriad of implications there, today he brought out his traditional Easter pumpkin (he refused to use a basket) and hunted for the traditional plastic eggs. I guess the good news is that someone in our family has started participating in holidays. The bad news is that he sort of mixes them up to suit himself.

The Real Springtime

It has been beautiful for the past two days. The yard and pond are alive with birds (kiss of death), I saw the first dragonfly of the season (it was holding a big #1), and the koi lived through the Winter. Camron wants to hang out but I am occupied. He has a four day holiday.

New Business

Camron found me yesterday with an idea for a new business. He thinks we can become rich if we sell spears, because there are a lot of people who like to hunt but don't have guns. He also thinks that the problems with his other businesses has been that we didn't have cash registers to keep money in. If we will just get a place to keep the money, it will come.

The business will be called Spears From New Mexico. For a while I was confused and thought that a mouse spear would be for hunting mice, but according to Camron it is to be used by mice to hunt for cheese. Same thing with a bird spear. Not for hunting birds, but to be used by birds. We made a mouse spear and a bird spear, and he made a small indentation along the shaft so they can hold it easier. He is showing the spears in the photos, but unfortunately an eagle spotted them and took them not long after they were finished.

Later I was going to move some hoses and asked him is he would like to help me. He said, "sure", then as we were walking toward my house he added, "unless it involves going in your yard with Buddy. In that case the answer is no."

April the Intense

Obnoxious winds today. At least 30 MPH sustained with gusts up to 55 and 60. Everything is getting greener, and I don't think we got the Easter freeze this year. The fruit trees in the area should make it this time.

I haven't seen Camron a lot lately, but he was at my gate yesterday when I was leaving for work with a glow in the dark yo-yo. What a young scientist he is becoming.

Spring for Sure

Beautiful morning. When we went walking at 8 AM it was already too warm for a jacket (and just two days ago I needed a jacket). The temperature should be close to 90 this afternoon. The bird population has exploded, especially the ring-necked doves and red-winged blackbirds. I'll keep filling the gopher holes during my break but mainly just need to start watering. Still no visible fish, but I see signs of them moving around.

Monday?

The weather was incredibly nice but I didn't walk so far. I'm not so enthusiastic. Worked on the pond pump but haven't got it running yet, and that fountain issue is kind of bothering me. I want to build something that looks nice and adds to the scenery and nothing I have tried so far has touched either of those.

Beautiful Sunday

Incredibly beautiful day. Some wind, but it came and went. I worked on the waterfall leak - well actually I found the part of the waterfall structure that leaks back into Bill's shop - and now know what work needs to be done.

Camron

He has been waiting for me all day and I've kept telling him that we would hang out as soon as I caught up with my work. He told me, "okay, but you've already missed the scavenger hunt". He also showed me the diamond that he found this morning, and six blue marbles. We did hang out for a while. I bought these two posters from him because they were just what I needed. One is of all the magnets that he is familiar with, and the other is of Rat-dog and Cleo at the pond. My sister has tried all day to get the red stuff off of his face. It could turn out to be a tattoo. The baby is a little more interesting now. Her eyes are occasionally open.
