The last Sunday of Summer, 2005

Several of my friends and relatives are having birthdays around this time, but I can't remember who they are or what days. It has been a beautiful Summer so I'm sure they'll have great celebrations.

We had several tremendous storms last night. It didn't rain very much but the wind and lightning were spectacular. At times the full moon was visible in the Eastern sky, a very bright planet (Venus? I'm too lazy to look it up right now) was visible on the Western horizon, and there was a full blown lightning show in between them. A perfect representation of Stability > Chaos > Stability at a glance.

The bird is on the boat this morning. I've spent hours, inching my way along the top of the berm to get poor quality photos from 20 to 30 feet away. Bill just now mentioned that every morning when he feeds the fish (What? We agreed, no food until Winter. But it's actually okay now.) he gets to within 5 or 6 feet of the bird and it doesn't fly off. Fine, and I hope it's his birthday I'm forgetting.

We walked later in the morning today and it was light enough to see that the prairie has turned brown during the past two weeks. It probably happened in an afternoon and I just now noticed. It is time anyway. This Fall will be the best one ever and I'm ready to get it started.
