The last Saturday of Summer 2005

Wonderful morning. We walked early to avoid the heat but could have slept in. It's hours later and still cool. The walking path is practically rush hour traffic now. I see footprints everywhere, and today as we were finishing I could see a jogger several blocks away running toward the track. Next I'll be seeing people out there at 6 AM. I don't mind sharing, but it's the only place outside of the yard where I let Kilo off of the leash to run. She isn't interested in chasing rabbits so much any more, but she likes to explore, and I can't risk it if other people are going to show up (especially running people - that really excites her).

It's the worst of the snake season right now. I check the yard several times each day but no problem so far. They are mainly on the roadways because the nights are so much cooler than even a week ago, and the ones I have seen are very large. Kilo has been bitten once and the anti-venom worked perfectly but I think the effectiveness diminishes with subsequent bites. Also, it must hurt, and she is elderly.

Beautiful moon last night - full or almost full. I don't really care what day it is, but should get a calendar so I can keep up with those other things.
