I went out to mow the berm and ended up on a secret mission. Camron met me at the gate with a pack containing our assignment paper and some spy tools (all I saw was binoculars but maybe the carrying case has some other function).
We walked to the meeting spot, which is now by the Canna, and Camron advised me that a crime has been committed and our job is to find a "lame, old box ghost", which I didn't understand at first. We used the binoculars and looked for a while until he decided that the ghost lived underground right beneath where we were sitting. He left to find a shovel and when I realized what he planned to do I told him that we couldn't dig anywhere on or near the pond berm because it was our main (probably only) protection against barbarism. He agreed and decided that the ghost probably really lived under the place where he plays with his trucks. Anyway, now that we know where it is, to complete our part of the mission we need to trap it in a box he has prepared, seal the box with duct tape, and throw it in the canyon (an old irrigation pond from when this was part of a farm). He was expecting me to dig a deep hole right then but I convinced him that he needed to check on his Grandparents while I finished some other things. Meanwhile, his friends (the half-ghost/half-human beings on the left side of the Operation X assignment paper) will be processing the crime scene (the house to the right side of the popsicle stick X). I might be saying too much, and the photo is probably completely out of line since he wouldn't even let his Grandmother read the paper, but I'll take that risk. I managed to put off digging the hole until about 7 PM, but he is obviously determined to finish this mission. As I type this I can see that he is parked in front of my gate, watching my door. I'm sort of doomed.
