A Tuesday in October
An absolutely beautiful Fall day. I knew this would happen, but then didn't believe it for a while as the heat continued. The plains have changed color significantly and the phrase most common here is that the pastures have turned brown. They really haven't. The green has mostly gone but the primary replacement color is more golden or yellow right now, and that washes out to pale yellows, then white in the coldest parts of Winter. Brown, orange, and the green of various ornamental plants, shrubs and trees are highlight colors across the landscape right now and they are astonishing visual elements as the light and humidity fluctuates. The pond water is so clear that the fish are visible about 10' below the surface. I love this time of year.
