Beautiful morning. No wind, very little humidity, and it was in the upper 50's when we walked this morning. I love sleeping late when it is cool - but then it isn't really late when I work at night. Evidence of large birds around the pond bank but none visible so far today. I walked around the bank several times and noticed that the frogs seem to be completely gone, there are no dragonflies or damselflies (at least early in the day), no bees, and only an occasional butterfly or moth. There are still a few small birds, but nothing compared to the peak Summer population. The place is becoming dormant.
