Real Pond News

The Bittern's are back. I was watching the sunset and saw the first one land just as the sun went below the horizon. The predicted cold front must already be here because it became noticeably cooler as the sun disappeared. It's been a beautiful evening. I am almost hypnotized by the vivid colors in the sky and on the ground. I mowed the East side of the pond about 6:30 PM and the greens were dynamic. They changed constantly and always do throughout the day. I don't think there is a stable color in this type of environment. Light, temperature, humidity and wind are constantly changing, and consequently, the green in the prairie is generally lighter, yet still bright, in the early morning, pastel to almost washed out during the middle part of the day, and deep, dark green through early evening.
