When I checked the local weather site at about 3:30 this morning, it was 1 degree (-11 with the wind chill) and the lowest it had gotten in the 24 hours before that was a -17 wind chill - I didn't notice the real temperature with that. These pictures are from yesterday morning. It is 2:35 PM and when I got back from walking a few minutes ago the pond was frozen over. I don't remember seeing that before. The area is pretty much a dead zone, except for the gopher that seems to have survived the cold plus a whole lot of other deadly stuff. There are occasional patches of green but for the most part, the bright blue sky is the only real color in town.
