06/21/04

We finally have a camera, but haven't quite got the hang of it yet. It rained 1.1 inches on the 19th, and the entire area is exploding with activity and growth. A new generation of Red-winged Blackbirds is hunting, and about to start on the next group. Bill and his friends still fish every few days, but usually very early in the morning, or very late in the afternoon. The middle part of the day is too hot to deal with.

The small dog belongs to Bill and my sister, and is a great little creature. He is totally fearless, but occasionally has to go swimming to get away from the large dogs. I often find him in the pond, generally hunting for things to kill, but sometimes, just cooling off.

I work on the pond every day, but sometimes lose enthusiasm for talking about it when there is too much to keep up with.
