Cashmere took these pictures yesterday evening (9/23/04). The Pickerel Rush just looks interesting. The thing that looks like the moon, isn't. It was visible at that location in the NW sky for almost an hour until sunset. Other local agencies received multiple inquiries but I only had two. The other agencies were advising their callers that it was a weather balloon. I prefer to call it a UFO until it is actually identified, then I'll call it whatever that might be.

We received another almost two inches of rain on the evening and night of the 22nd and it's raining heavily again right now. The plants will be incredible by late Fall. Cashmere took the following photos yesterday on the 23rd (her mother's birthday but that's not why she took them). A couple of them are exceptional. The baby Catfish are remarkable in person, but that hasn't translated well onto a photograph yet. Mixed in with them are large numbers of tiny Bass, but they are very fast, and almost invisible anyway. There are also lots of Ghost Shrimp but they won't be in a photo any time soon.

Last day of Summer, 2004

It was cloudy for most of the day yesterday and it started raining heavily after I started the shift at work. We were under a flash flood warning for several hours and ended up with almost two inches of rain. This has been one of the wettest Summers we have had in the past 20 years and will probably become incorporated into the local oral history as "The year it rained several times."

Bill is feeling better and has taken back over control of his pond, which is good. I'm glad he is feeling better, but I did have those innovative ideas ready in case he had to stay in the house for a few more weeks.

9:30 PM and it just started raining again. All of the cameras outside the building are vibrating so the wind is up also. I love the storms that are unleashed here and the pond will be a frenzy of activity by mid-day tomorrow.
