Two Great Blue Herons have lived at the pond for most of the Winter. They are very leary of people, and the dogs freak them out a lot, but they come back nearly every night. This is the first time I have had a camera near-by when they were taking off.

Wednesday Evening

I got in just as the sun was setting, leashed Kilo, and we took off with the camera. The sky was mainly orange with a sort of purple to pink outline. These colors are real, but there were many more that haven't shown up. I don't capture the really interesting minute (on that scale) details such as gradational color changes.

Tuesday Evening

I realize that the pond surface reflects something every day, and I look at that surface every day, but often I will walk over the berm and look into something extra-ordinary. A few times I have been stunned into immobility by particularly strange reflections.
