2/10 inch more of rain this afternoon

CBS had a segment on Extreme Weather and showed a precipitation map of the United States mainland. Many parts of the West which are normally fairly wet are experiencing drought to severe drought conditions, but this section of the plains is experiencing the other extreme of much more rain than normal. I still love it here and the pond is beautiful this afternoon.

1 1/10 inch of rain this morning

The weatherman called it pre-monsoonal rain - following the monsoon pattern but too early for the real thing. It is beautiful outside, but trying to move around feels like trudging through a swamp (not that I've ever trudged or been in a swamp, but I've read books about both.) The waterfall spillway is curing nicely and as soon as I get the parts for the plumbing we will have it going.

Bill, Cashere, and Josh are grilling today

and they are all great cooks.

We did it

Cashmere and I finished the concrete work on the waterfall and put Bill's plumbing back just the way he had it. As soon as I get the parts we are going to bury his aeration system underground and install in-line valves. Quite a lot more to do, but this is a great leap forward.

Cashlin didn't help with the work but she came out this afternoon and enjoyed it. Camron is still recuperating.

Tomorrow is the day

I worked on the pond today and made arrangements with Cashmere to finish the waterfall in the morning. She will have to do most of the heavy work, but it shouldn't take us long to finish, and it should be ready for the 4th. It's just nice to be well groomed on holidays, even if we don't celebrate them.

They are all sick with some kind of flu and all went to the doctor for medication today, but Cashmere and Cashlin still came out to water this evening. The child doesn't feel well but still did about a hundred different things in a 45 minute period of time. If only that energy could be harnessed.
