Finished mowing the pond and got part of the trim work done. I kind of wasted most of the evening trying to redesign the aeration process, but this started only after I chopped the pump cord into a hundred pieces with the lawn mower and it stopped anyway. I have never been pleasingly creative with either sounds or the visual elements in my environment, and consequently, my attempts to make a fountain are more like battles than a building process. Today was the same - I built what ultimately looked like a pile of junk. I finally stopped the destruction and pulled both pumps out of the water (aeration isn't even necessary right now), and will wait for, maybe a vision - or at least a magazine article on simple fountain designs. I then turned to something productive by hooking up the pump that pulls water off of the bottom of the pond to water ther berm and garden. I haven't watered in almost 6 weeks and the South berm looks tortured. I'll soak it the rest of the Summer and it will rejuvenate.
The Bittern is still around. It is obviously sleeping in, or spending a lot of time in the tree right above the bench that Bill fishes on. It has sprinkled on and off for several hours but nothing substantial. It did create a tremendous sunset. Camron and I caught most of it but I convinced him to take his lasers into the house when the lightning started.
